Thank you for your encouraging my no-budget-redecorating project! Such great suggestions. Of course, I immediately started rearranging the furniture this weekend and so far I've spent $0. I anticipate future (limited) expenses for fabric and I'm on the hunt for an affordable new rug. Rugs are spendy though! No wonder we've been using the same dusty wool rug since Arden was a baby. But I've got a few pieces of furniture I can put on Craigslist and I'm hoping to use that money to offset any costs. We shall see…
Okay, so after a day of moving furniture (like a piano and hugely heavy side table with a broken leg—thank you, honey!) it was time to eat. Something good. Something really good. Like Molly's Workaday Chili. That girl knows what she's doing. You know when she posts a recipe it's going to be a good. And her posts are so lovely and thoughtful and amazing that any time you visit her blog it's going to be good. I followed her recipe exactly and it was delicious. I served mine with rice but I shouldn't have done that. It didn't need it at all. I scraped the rice away and just ate the chili anyway. And the craziest thing? The child-who-doesn't-eat-anything ate the beans and says he likes beans now.
What?! Black beans cooked with beef and tomatoes and onions and chili powder?
Molly, I am forever in your debt.
