Yay! The costumes are complete! Actually, I finished Perry's costume years ago when I made it for Arden. The pattern is Simplicity 2855 and I will say that sewing with that thick, fuzzy fabric is not for the faint of heart. I remember my mom helping me with it because I could not get that stinkin' zipper in. This tiger costume has been kicking around the dress-up bin for years, and every Halloween I try to talk at least one of the kids into wearing it (I think this is Perry's second time) but I didn't have to this time—he volunteered! Such a nice boy.
Arden did not settle so easily on what she wanted to be this year. She couldn't decide between an Anthro rat, a giant candy corn, or an art project. I was kind of rooting for the art project costume but then we found a candy corn witch pattern and she was sold.
She wanted the dress to be exactly like the pattern—same fabric and trim and everything. I didn't make the hat, gloves or tights (all from Jo-Ann's), but the dress was from Simplicity 2509. It was so much fun to make.
Perry could not stand still for these photos and I'm surprised any of them are in focus. Arden just wanted to get it over with because she was freezing (she'll have to wear something under this for trick-or-treating, of course). Perry's tiger costume is already warm and toasty.
Oh, hi there, Candy Corn Witch! Are you ready for trick-or-treating?
